Abstract

Diabetes Mellitus patients who experienced complications in the kidneys (Diabetic Nephropathy) will have elevated on TNF-α levels. The increasing of TNF-α level will trigger chronic inflammation in the glomerular, causing abnormality renal reabsorption and can lead to renal dysfunction. This study used 25 Wistar strain rats were divided into negative control group, positive control, negative control and treatment group with Aloe vera gel dose (30 mg/day, 60mg/day and 120mg/day). TNF-α levels were measured by indirect ELISA test. The data analysis performed by Oneway ANOVA. This result showed that administration of Aloe vera gel significantly decrease TNF-α level Diabetes Mellitus type I animal model on 30 mg/day dose. However, there are no significant different between the treatment dose groups. In conclusion Aloe vera gel has potent as anti-inflammatory agent through decrease TNF-α level in Diabetes Mellitus rat.
